Sarah Jackson, Casa De Paz, runs a hospitality home close to the immigrant detention center in Denver. Casa De Paz offers free lodging and meals to guests visiting their loved ones inside the detention center as well as hosts guests who have been recently released and need a place to stay while the make plans to return home. All services are provided at no cost; the facility relies on donations.
Mekela Goehring, RMIAN, is a lawyer and Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN). RMIAN is a non-profit that provides free immigration legal services for individuals in civil immigration detention in Colorado, as well as for children throughout the state. RMIAN promotes knowledge of legal rights, provides effective representation to ensure due process, works to improve detention conditions, and promotes a more humane immigration system, including alternatives to detention.
