Action Plan for Week of April 24

There are plenty of opportunities for action this week!

Make plans to attend these two Denver events:

Thursday, April 27 – Denver Sanctuary Spaces Policy Launch

(Even if you can’t go, Like the event on Facebook to show your support.)

COPA has been working with allies for months on a community Denver Sanctuary Policy and on Thursday, April 27th, it will finally be unveiled. Join in on Thursday April 27th, from 6pm-8pm at the Denver City Parish (1212 Mariposa St) to send Denver city leaders a strong message that our community is tired of messaging about how welcoming the city is when our families are still being picked up by ICE at court.

Saturday, April 29 – The People’s Climate March (on Facebook)

10:00 am at Civic Center Park, Colfax and Bannock, Denver

Make a call opposing Trump’s budget priorities:

Current budget funding expires on Friday, April 28th at midnight so Congress is under pressure to pass a budget and avoid a government shutdown. This will be the only focus of Congress this week. Make calls to our Members of Congress every day this week.

EPA even more of a target

Send the following messages daily, all directly opposed to Trump’s priorities:

Monday, April 24:  I do not want my tax dollars to support a $1-billion wall on the Mexican border or on increased border security and deportation.

Tuesday, April 25:  I do not support cutting funding for the Environmental Protection Agency or for health care subsidies to low-income people.

Wednesday, April 26:  I do not want my tax dollars to support a $30 billion increase in military spending.

Thursday, April 27:  I do want my tax dollars to support [INSERT YOUR FAVORITE CAUSE HERE]  (research, education, clean energy, Federal statistical agencies that provide data for policy-makers)

Friday, April 28:  Donate to candidate Jon Ossoff – he’s got a chance to win in the Georgia run-off on June 20th and you can bet that money will be pouring in for the Republican candidate, Karen Handel.
